Beyond HTML
Typical application
- User logs into a vacation-reservation server,
specifies what is wanted (e.g.,
preferred temperatures, dates and budget).
- Programme on that server communicates with Web services on servers
operated by airlines, hotels, car rental companies, etc.,
checking availability, cost, etc.
- Those servers may in turn communicate with other servers
(e.g., for currency conversion, weather forecasts).
- Programme on the first server receives and analyses the information,
possibly makes more requests to other Web services, then
provides summary to user.
