    15.27   Epididymis Version française
Cross section of an epididymal duct from the head of the epididymis of a monkey.

The regular epithelium (E) is composed of tall narrow prismatic cells with elongated nuclei at their base.

At their apices, fascicles of long non-motile microvilli (V) or stereocilia form flamelike projections extending into the lumen and reaching the clustered spermatozoa (Sz) present in the centre of the lumen.

The acidophilic rim at the apices of these cells (arrowheads) corresponds to the terminal bars (zonula adherens) of these epithelial cells.

The limiting membrane is also labelled (M).

Stain: H–E
