The greater sciatic notch is a bony notch that is made into a foramen by the
sacro-spinous ligament. The resulting foramen allows passage of the sciatic nerve,
posterior femoral cutaneous nerve, nerve to superior gimellus, nerve to obturator
internus muscle, pudendal nerve, piriformis muscle, superior gluteal artery and
nerve, inferior gluteal artery and nerve, and internal pudendal artery.
