Instructions for volunteers
Here are some pointers for the people staffing BME's exhibit:
- There is some printed information for volunteers at the table,
supplied by the Open House
people. Please take a look at it, especially with respect
to how to handle emergencies.
- There is spare Velcro at the table in case the posters start
disintegrating.
- We're leaving the equipment turned on over night. (Someone
said there might be condensation problems in the morning if
we don't.) At the end of the day, please enable the screen
savers on both machines:
- Click on the screen background with right mouse button.
- In the pop-up menu, click on
Properties.
- In the pop-up dialogue box,
select the
Screen Saver tab.
- Select one of the available screen-saver patterns.
At the beginning of the day, please disable the screen savers
so our displays will always be visible to visitors. Use the
procedure above, but select <None> as the
screen-saver pattern.
- Leave both screens running animations when you're not actually
showing something to someone. The animations will attract more
attention than still displays.
- After the Open House ends on Sunday at 1700, the computers
and poster material
should be taken back to the Lyman Duff. Whoever is doing
it should take a taxi up the hill.
- Sunday after it all finishes there's some sort of party for
volunteers at Gertz(?). Your names are on a list which should
get you in if you want to go.
- If necessary, you can try contacting me at funnell@medcor...
or 398-6739 (which rings at home if I'm not at the office).
