How to respond to spam

Complain to the spammer's Internet Service Provider, or to the system administrator whose server unwittingly distributed the spam.

Look for Received: lines in the full header.
Identify the immediate sender (the one closest to you) by the first Received: line outside your local network.
Identify the real address of that sender using a Whois search (or nslookup or traceroute) on the numeric IP address.
Forward the spam (with full headers turned on) to abuse or postmaster at the real domain name.
