Vibrating eardrum model

This animation shows the displacements of one of our eardrum models as it vibrates at a moderately high frequency (3 kHz).

For clarity, the eardrum has been cut across the middle, as indicated by the blue line, roughly perpendicular to the manubrium. The position of the manubrium corresponds to the widely spaced nodes to the left of centre, and posterior is to the right.
